Pekka Kuusisto opens season-long residency in Eindhoven

1 October 2010

Pekka Kuusisto returns to the Netherlands this week to open his season-long residency in Eindhoven. Two gala concerts (8 & 9 October) will take place in Eindhoven’s Muziekcentrum Frits Philips Hall, with an eclectic selection of classical chamber and electronic music (including a piece for violin and tape by American composer Nico Muhly). Later in the season, Pekka tours the Netherlands with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta both as leader/conductor and soloist; participates in the Eindhoven-based Storioni Festival, and gives a recital and masterclass in April 2011. Other engagements in the Netherlands this season include the world premiere of a Violin Concerto written by Richard Rijnvos (Composer-in-residence of the ZaterdagMatinee) with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2011.
