Janine Jansen's "Beau Soir" enters Dutch pop charts at No. 3

4 October 2010

Once again, the Dutch have shown their support for their favourite compatriot violinist, Janine Jansen, seeing her new recital disc entering the Dutch Pop Charts at No 3. Running through the album, entitled Beau Soir – after Debussy’s early song, which she plays in a transcription for violin and piano – is the theme of night. Noted chamber-music specialist Itamar Golan partners with the celebrated young Dutch virtuoso. Featuring familiar pieces including Fauré’s Après un rêve; Debussy’s Clair de lune, and more obscure works such as Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne and three new works by Swiss composer Richard Dubugnon (whose Violin Concerto Janine Jansen premiered in Paris in 2008), the programme touches on night, moonlight and sleep. Messiaen music is also integrated into Beau Soir – featuring his Theme and Variations for violin and piano, as well as violin sonatas by Debussy and Ravel.

Released on 15 October, the disc follows on from the theatrical Release of 'Janine', a documentary by Paul Cohen, on 7 October. Please click on the link below to see the trailer:
