HarrisonParrott signs conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali
HarrisonParrott is delighted to announce that it has signed Santtu-Matias Rouvali for worldwide general management.
This summer Santtu-Matias Rouvali conducted Bizet’s Carmen at the Kokkola Opera at the Summer Festival and will return there to conduct Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in 2011. Santtu-Matias was appointed assistant to Sakari Oramo at the Festival in the summer of 2009 where he also conducted Sebastian Fagerlund’s Döbeln to great critical acclaim.
In September 2009, he took over a concert with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra at short notice with a programme of Mikko Heiniö and Bernstein. On the strength of this performance he was immediately reinvited for studio recordings with the orchestra, together with an invitation from the Helsinki Festival (where he performed with Julian Rachlin).
Further returns to the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra are planned, and he makes his first appearance with the Residentie Orkest for two concerts in September 2010. With his reputation already building quickly in Finland, this coming season he will appear with the orchestras in Lahti and Tapiola, as well as with the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra.
Having completed his studies in percussion at the Sibelius Academy, Santtu-Matias Rouvali entered the conducting class of Leif Segerstam in 2007. He has also studied with Jorma Panula and Hannu Lintu.
