Igor Levit

Igor Levit’s recital last week in Bielefeld’s Oetkerhalle was given a standing ovation and received rave reviews in the German press. Levit performed a programme including Schubert’s Moments Musicaux and Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations and was praised for the way he “explored Beethoven’s experiments with motives, nuances of expression and shadings of sound to the last detail.” (Neue Westfälische) The Westfalen-Blatt enthused that Levit’s “biggest achievement lies in the way he tackled the formal layout of this work so full of originality…..the way Igor Levit was able to sustain the focus of the audience for more than an hour to give them a glimpse of the greatness of [Beethoven’s] work, was nothing less than miraculous.”

Some of Igor Levit’s upcoming performances this summer and autumn include solo recitals at the Kissinger Sommer and the Beethovenfest Bonn. He will also perform a programme of Schumann, Prokofiev and Beethoven at the Schumannfest Düsseldorf in November.
