Teo Gheorghiu

The release of his first CD for Deutsche Grammophon in April 2009 (Piano Concertos by Schumann and Beethoven with Douglas Boyd and Musikkollegium Winterthur) marked a highpoint in a busy 2008/09 season for Teo Gheorghiu. Although only 16 years old, recent orchestral engagements include the Tokyo Symphony Orchestras, the Philharmonie der Nationen, the State Hermitage Orchestra, the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Sinfonieorchester Basel the Zürich and Geneva Chamber Orchestras, as well as recital and chamber music appearances at London’s Wigmore Hall and at the Verbier, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Ohrid Festivals.

Concerto debuts in the 2009/10 season include his first appearances with the English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and the Toronto Philharmonia. He will return to London’s Southbank Centre twice in the season (for Rachmaninov’s Second and Third Concertos) and give recitals at the Beethovenfest Bonn and the Quartier des Spectacles in Montréal amongst others. In future seasons he looks forward to return visits to the Berner Symphonie Orchester and to Musikkollegium Winterthur (with Sir Neville Marriner), as well as both recital and concerto debuts in Taiwan..
