Sol Gabetta

“Wit, aristocratic poise and elegance; mercurial shifts of mood, intensity and lightness of touch in near-miraculous balance”

– The Glasgow Herald, 18 May 2009

Born of Russian-French parents in Cordoba, Argentina, the charismatic cellist Sol Gabetta is forging an impressive career: she has a recording contract with SonyBMG, is the Director of her own festival, and has invitations from important orchestras all over the world. In 2004 Sol Gabetta was awarded the prestigious Credit Suisse Young Artist Award, which was celebrated by a concert with the Wiener Philharmoniker under the baton of Valery Gergiev at the 2004 Lucerne Festival.

Winner of the 2007 and 2009 Echo Klassik Awards and Grammy Award nominee, Sol Gabetta works with orchestras such as Münchner Philharmoniker, Philadelphia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, and on tour with kammerorchesterbasel. Recitals have led her to many major venues and festival in Europe and Asia, amongst them Vienna Musikverein, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Luxembourg Philharmonie and the Louvre in Paris.
