Chief Conductor: Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra
Chief Conductor and Artistic Advisor: Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (from 2008/09)

Sakari Oramo's unquestionable skill as a conductor and palpable commitment to the highest quality music-making, not only in the UK and in his native Finland but with many of the most prestigious orchestras of the world, have earned him the greatest respect and widespread admiration.

His creative programmes reflect his Finnish origins, as well as exploring English repertoire. In May 2003, Oramo was Artistic Director of the CBSO’s highly-acclaimed new music festival, ‘Floof’. In June 2004, he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Central England in Birmingham, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the musical life of the city.

Sakari Oramo has a number of highly-acclaimed recordings to his credit, the most recent being of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius with the CBSO on the orchestra’s own label.
