Soprano

Orla Boylan

Irish lyric soprano Orla Boylan is renowned for the beauty of her voice and style of her interpretations, described as “committed and radiant”, and acclaimed for the “mature warmth of her singing.“

Her most recent roles have included Sieglinde, Madame Lidoine (The Carmelites) and Female Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia) with English National Opera; Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with New York City Opera; Jenufa at Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Opera de Lyon; and her role-debuts as Arabella for Garsington Opera and Lisa (Queen of Spades) for Opera Holland Park.

This season highlights have included her role debut as Blanche Dubois in the Irish premiere of Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire with Opera Ireland, and the world premiere of Mills's Love of the Nightingale in the role of Procne at Perth International Arts Festival. She makes her role debut in the title-role of Ariadne auf Naxos at Garsington Opera this summer, and sings Jenufa at Cologne Opera. Next season she sings Sieglinde (Die Walküre) with Opera National du Rhin.
