Six years on, Georgian-born violinist Lisa Batiashvili is warmly welcomed as a returning guest soloist by the world's leading orchestras and conductors - reinvited by both the Berlin and New York Philharmonic in 2007; while her recital tours and chamber music projects are must-hear events. Her commitment to new music is evidenced by two world premieres in 2006 - concertos by Nicholas Bacri and Magnus Lindberg, and a new orchestral work by Giya Kancheli is planned for 2008.
Previously a BBC 'New Generation Artist' and recipient of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival's Leonard Bernstein Award, as well as the 2006 Beethovenring, she now - in her mid-20s - has already left an indelible impression on audiences throughout Europe, North America, Australia and the Pacific Rim territories. In 2007 Lisa signed an exclusive recording contract with Sony BMG Masterworks
Munich has been Lisa's home city since 1994: it is where she has primarily studied with Professor Ana Chumachenko at the city's Musikhochschule, and she currently resides there with her husband and daughter. Lisa plays the 1709 Engleman Stradivarius - kindly loaned by the Nippon Music Foundation.
