Since her outstanding debut at Royal Danish Opera in the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in 2003, Swedish soprano Klara Ek has made several important debuts including Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte) at La Monnaie under René Jacobs, La Musica/ Proserpina (L’Orfeo) at Stuttgart Opera, and Echo (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Geneva Opera under the direction of Jeffrey Tate. In concert she was invited by Vladimir Ashkenazy to sing Mahler’s Fourth Symphony with both the Philharmonia Orchestra and NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo and she made her Wigmore Hall debut singing Haydn arias with the Classical Opera Company.
Other concert highlights include a tour of Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate with conductor Helmuth Rilling and the International Bach Academy Stuttgart; Elijah in her debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Andreas Spering; her American debut with the Minnesota Orchestra and Christopher Warren-Green; and a performance of Sandström’s Christmas Oratorio for her first appearance with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra.
2007/08 season highlights include performances of Die Schöpfung with Orchestre National de Bordeaux Acquitaine under the baton of Kwamé Ryan, a programme of Handel’s Italian cantatas with Andreas Scholl and Accademia Bizantina and Susanna for Göteborgs Operan conducted by Henrik Schaefer.
