Very much in demand as a guest conductor, the 2008/9 season sees Karabits make his US debut with Houston Symphony in March 2009, followed by appearances at the Grant Park and Aspen Festivals in the summer. In 2009/10 he will return to the US to work with the Minnesota Orchestra and Ingrid Fliter, and with Washington National Symphony in 2010/11. Elsewhere, other highlights of this season include his debuts with Seoul Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI Turin and SWR-Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden/Freiburg. Next season he will debut with Basel Symphony, Iceland Symphony, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony, Tokyo Symphony, plus a re-invitation to the Philharmonia and an appearance at the Kissinger Sommer Festival with Bamberger Symphoniker.
As an opera conductor, productions this season include Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera with Opéra National du Rhin, Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame with Luxembourg Philharmonic and singers from Latvian National Opera, and Idomeneo with Opéra National de Lorraine in summer 2009. He will make his Opéra National de Lyon debut with Shostakovich's Moskva, Cheremushki in December 2009, and with English National Opera in autumn 2010 with a production of Don Giovanni.
