Jean-Efflam Bavouzet

“Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s flexible virtuosity and innate grasp of Debussy’s style and sound world yields ravishing, freshly minted interpretations…”

– Gramophone Magazine, December 2008

French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet combines a rare elegance and clarity in his playing with deep and thoughtful musicality, for which he continues to win highest acclaim from both critics and audiences.

Bavouzet’s recent performances have included his BBC Proms debut with Pierre Boulez, appearances with the Orchestre National de France and Daniele Gatti and the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Sir Andrew Davis, and recitals at the Wigmore Hall and at London’s Southbank Centre.

Highlights of Bavouzet’s 2009/10 season include the Cleveland Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy and the London Symphony Orchestra and Valery Gergiev. He will also give the world premiere of a new piano concerto by Bruno Mantovani with the Orchestre National de Lille.

An exclusive Chandos recording artist, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s discography includes a cycle of Debussy’s complete works for piano, which has been recognised by many international awards, not least of which a BBC Music Magazine Award in 2009.
