The orchestra has made numerous award-winning CDs with Philips and has recently recorded Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony, Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony and Mahler’s Sixth and Second Symphonies as part of an exclusive recording contract with Channel Classics.
As a guest conductor Iván Fischer appears regularly with the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, New York Philharmonic, Cleveland, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Munich Philharmonic, Dresden Staatskapelle and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischer Rundfunks. Recent highlights have included a tour of Asia and Australia with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and a very successful production of Così fan Tutte with Glyndebourne Festival Opera in summer 2006.
From the 2006/07 season Iván Fischer will assume the position of Principal Guest Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington. He will also be named as Principal Artist of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (along with Vladimir Jurowski and Sir Simon Rattle) in acknowledgement of his role in the artistic growth of the orchestra.
