Finnish soprano Helena Juntunen is internationally recognised for the expressive, natural and vibrant qualities of her voice and for her realistic and moving portrayals of roles in the lyric repertoire - in particular Mimi (La bohème), Liu (Turandot) and, most notably, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) which she has performed at Festival d’Aix en Provence (under Daniel Harding), at La Monnaie (under René Jacobs), at Grand Théâtre de Genève, Wiener Festwochen, Theater an der Wien, Opéra National de Lorraine, Sachsische Staatsoper Dresden, Minnesota Opera and Théâtre de Caen.
During her long association with Finnish National Opera, Helena Juntunen has performed the roles of Zdenka (Arabella), Madama Cortese (Il viaggio a Reims), Sopie (Der Rosenkavalier), Liu (Turandot), Mimi (La bohème) and Liisa (Leevi Madetoja’s Ostrobothnian).
Current season highlights include her role debuts as Micaela (Carmen) in Helsinki and Marietta (Korngold’s Die tote Stadt) with Opéra National de Lorraine.
