Eliana Pretorian was born in Romania and, after studying choreography, universal languages and physics, she received a singing scholarship to the National Academy of Music in Bucharest. In 2005 she was the youngest finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Competition and went on to win a place a place at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School at the Royal College of Music.
2006/07 included performances of Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Garsington and Despina (Cosi fan tutte) with Longborough Festival Opera, and in 2007/08 she sings Gianetta (L'elisir d'amore) with Glyndebourne Touring Opera. In September 2007 she performs Mozart C minor Mass with the Orchestra of St John's at Cadogan Hall, and at the invitation of the Solti Academy she gives a recital at the Wigmore Hall in January 2008.
