In August 2006 Christoph Poppen was appointed Principal Conductor of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Saarbrücken, having been given the role of overseeing and the merger of his orchestra with the Radio Orchestra Kaiserslautern. A frequent guest with various orchestras Christoph Poppen has appeared with the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Deutsches Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Staatskapelle Dresden, Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Singapore, Detroit and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras and the Orchestra of the Royal Danish Opera, amongst many others.
His productive collaboration with the Tirolean Landestheater Innsbruck has led to many successful opera projects: among others Mozart’s Zauberflöte and a concert performance of Rossini’s Othello, along with a new production of Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito.
As a violinist Christoph Poppen has been the laureate of many German and international violin competitions. Most recently the CD Morimur was released: a recording of Bach’s D Minor Partita with the Hilliard Ensemble.
