This season the young Danish tenor Bo Kristian Jensen makes his French debut at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in the role of Evandre in Christoph Loy’s new production of Gluck’s opera Alceste conducted by Ivor Bolton; and as a member of the ensemble of Det Kongelige Theater will sing his first Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and returns to the role of Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor. A DVD of Handel’s Partenope from Copenhagen, in which he performs the role of Emilio, has been released on the Decca label.
Other operatic engagements to date include his house debut last season at Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Christoph Loy’s production of Lucio Silla, and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) for Den Jyske Opera. He made his role debut as Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at Det Kongelige Theater during the 2005/06 season and has since added Don Ottavio, Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Aufidio (Lucio Silla) to his repertoire. He also performed the role of Emilio (Partenope) with which role he made his debut at the BBC Proms in a concert performance with Concerto Copenhagen under Lars UIrik Mortensen.
