Born in Estonia, Anu Tali started her musical training as a pianist, graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory in 1991 and continued her studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and the St. Petersburg State Conservatory as a conductor. Together with her twin sister Kadri, Anu Tali founded the Nordic Symphony Orchestra in 1997 in order to develop cultural contacts between Estonia and Finland and to unite musicians from around the world. Today the Nordic Symphony Orchestra has members from fifteen countries, bringing together musicians from the world’s leading orchestras.
Anu Tali appears regularly with orchestras in Estonia and worldwide. Highlights of the current season include a production of Carmen Carmen at Magdeburg State Opera, engagements with the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig and return visits to the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Mozarteumorchester. She will conduct again Heiner Goebbels’ Songs of Wars I Have Seen both with the BCN216 Ensemble in Barcelona and with the Seattle Chamber Players in the US.
