South-Korean bass Simon Lim made his La Scala debut in 2007/08 season in the title role in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro under the baton of Giovanni Antonini. Subsequently at La Scala he performed as the Flemish Deputy in Don Carlo under Daniele Gatti and, more recently, Cesare Salzaparigli in Donizetti’s Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali under Marco Guidarini.
In the 2010/11 season he sings Robinson in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto for Settimane Musicali di Stresa with Natale de Carolis and Gianandrea Noseda. He then travels to Valencia where he performs Mustafà in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri under Alberto Zedda as well as in Massenet’s Manon under Lorin Maazel and Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin conducted by Omer Welber. Further ahead in the 2011/12 season, he will return to Valencia to sing Masetto in Don Giovanni conducted by Zubin Mehta.
