Biography

Klara Ek has a voice of remarkable clarity and beauty - qualities recognised by many of the world's leading conductors and orchestras. Recent notable debuts include Washington's National Symphony Orchestra under Helmuth Rilling, the London Symphony Orchestra under Bernard Haitink, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig under Christopher Hogwood, the NHK Symphony and Philharmonia orchestras under Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Berliner Philharmoniker under Ton Koopman. Future plans include Messiah with the Minnesota Orchestra under Osmo Vänskä and her debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in performances of The Creation under Bernard Haitink. 

On stage her roles have included Susanna for Royal Danish Opera, Pamina for Staatstheater Stuttgart, Ilia with Danish National Opera under Tobias Ringborg, Echo at Grand Théâtre de Genève under Jeffrey Tate, and Erste Dame at La Monnaie under René Jacobs. This season she makes her role debuts as Arminda (La finta giardiniera) with the Academy of Ancient Music under Richard Egarr and as Romilda (Xerxes) with Den Ny Opera.
