Biography
With the Slavonic roles now lying at the heart of his repertoire, this season Garry Magee performs Fernando (Betrothal in a Monastery) with Théâtre du Capitole, Toulouse and Théâtre National de l'Opéra Comique, Paris. He has performed Robert (Iolanta) in Toulouse and at Quincena Musical de San Sebastian, and the title role of Eugene Onegin in Toulouse, at Salle Pleyel, Paris, and for Welsh National Opera. Other highlights during the 2010/11 season include Spring Cantata with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Tugan Sokhiev and Marcello in a concert performance of La bohème with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra under Rory McDonald.
Recent notable roles include Jean in the premiere of Boesmans's Julie for La Monnaie, Conte d'Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) and Don Alfonso (Cosí fan tutte) for De Nederlandse Opera, Valentin (Gounod's Faust) for Danish National Opera, Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) with English National Opera, Pelléas (Pelléas et Mélisande) for Bayerische Staatsoper, Wozzeck with Komische Oper Berlin, and Don Giovanni for Staatsoper Hannover.
