Biography
Highlights this season for Lilli Paasikivi include opening the New York Philharmonic season in Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 (under Alan Gilbert) and she will also perform this piece with the Royal Swedish Philharmonic Orchestra (under Sakari Oramo); a return to Hamburgische Staatsoper for Fricka in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre; Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder with Orquesta Sinfonica de Bilbao; her first Genevieve in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande with Finnish National Opera and Fricka with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Sir Simon Rattle.
Lilli Paasikivi appears at the world's most prestigious venues and music festivals, from Los Angeles to Salzburg. Since making her debut with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker as Fricka in the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence's production of Der Ring des Nibelungen, Wagnerian roles have become central to her work on stage. House debuts have included La Monnaie (as Brangäne), Hamburgerische Staatsoper (as Fricka) and Oper Frankfurt (as Kundry) under Sebastian Weigle.
